Hey everyone! So as most of you know, I am a hairstylist, which also makes me a hair product junkie. I’ve probably tried almost anything and everything out there when it comes to hair products. That’s why I love being my own boss, I can choose to use and work with the products I think are best. Even though I am a booth renter, the salon I work at is a Bumble & Bumble salon. Meaning Bumble is what the owner chooses to use and sell through our salon. When I first moved to The French Door I had never tried Bumble and Bumble products. But now that I have… I’m OBSESSED. Bumble products are very hard to get a hold of, even as a hairstylist. The stores that I get all of my color, products, and tools at don’t even carry it. The only way you can really purchase their products is through a salon that sells it or at Sephora.
In this post I am going to share with you my current haircare and styling routine. Keep in mind while reading this post that everyone’s hair is different. Some products that work for me might not work for you as well. So if you have any questions regarding your hair, please leave a comment or email me! I would love to help you find the perfect products for your specific hair type.
First things first- Shampoo & Conditioner
I am in love with the Bumble & Bumble hairdresser’s invisible oil shampoo and conditioner. These products are infused with 6 featherlight oils that help soften, silken, tame, de-frizz, detangle, and protect your hair. They are also sulfate-free, which means they will preserve the color and moisture in your hair.
*Quick side note- everyone is always asking me why sulfate-free shampoos are better for your hair. So, I am going to address that very quickly. Sulfates are detergents. They cleanse by cutting through dirt and grime. But, the problem with sulfates is that since the chemicals are so strong, they can strip your hair of essential oils. This can cause your hair to become extremely dried out. Sulfates can also strip your color causing your hair to fade or lose its tone quickly. So, I always recommend using sulfate free products!
After I shower and before I blow dry, I like to use these products to prep and protect my hair from styling. I start out by spraying my hair with the Bumble & Bumble hairdressers invisible oil heat/uv protective primer. The primer works like a face primer would before applying your foundation. This product will also soften, detangle, and protect against heat damage! Bumble has three different primers for different hair types. After that, I brush through my hair with the wet brush. The wet brush is literally a Godsend. It combs through wet or dry hair quickly without damaging or ripping the hair. I highly recommend this brush (especially for detangling little ones hairs!!). After that, I will add the BB full form mousse (root pump) to my roots for some extra volume and lift at the scalp. Lastly, I will use the BB repair blow dry. This serum-in-creme elixir for dry or damaged hair helps seal split ends while protecting against heat, breakage, and UV damage. It is proven to help repair hair with every blow dry and keep styles looking soft, smooth and healthy for up to 3 days. Finally, I blow dry!
My favorite way to style mine and my client’s hair is big, messy, voluminous waves. Since I only wash my hair about twice a week, I like to use the wand to wave my hair. This way I can just sleep on it and only have to touch up a few pieces on the days I don’t wash my hair. These are the products I use to style my hair after I blow dry-
I use this Aquage beyond body thermal spray to protect from heat damage and to help my hair hold the curl. This is my Holy Grail product. I use this product on every single persons hair. It helps your hair hold a curl/wave without it feeling crunchy! When I curl my hair I curl in layers. I spray every layer before curling, and once it’s all curled, I brush through my hair with my fingers. I curl my hair with a 1¼ inch wand. Bumble and Bumble’s dryspun finish spray is a client favorite. This translucent dry spray creates instant fullness and texture to spin hair into an airy silhouette. If I want some extra hold, I will finish with the Moroccan oil hairspray.
I know it looks like I use a lot of products (which I do) and it might look like a lot of work, but I only do this twice a week. This routine and these products are what keep my hair looking good in between washes along with a little dry shampoo if needed! If any of you are in the College Station area and would like to try some of these bumble products, come by the French Door Salon & Spa to pick them up. We have travel sizes too!
